LTD Launches New Downtown Service
Getting around downtown Eugene will get easier this September, thanks to a partnership between Lane Transit District (LTD) and the City of Eugene (CoE). Featuring service every 30 minutes and including evening hours, the Downtown Loop will provide riders with increased access to the Riverfront and Midtown Eugene. The new service will also improve connections to food, housing, employment opportunities, and education.
The need for expanded service and increased frequency downtown were identified through a robust engagement process conducted by LTD and the CoE in 2024. The resulting Downtown Loop is a two-year pilot project, beginning September 7 and ending Summer 2027, funded with Statewide Transportation Improvement Funds.
"The Downtown Loop is a bridge to what's possible. We’re laying the groundwork for a vibrant future in Eugene,” said Jameson Auten, LTD’s Chief Executive Officer. “From connecting to education to supporting local businesses, this new service will play a vital role in shaping a more accessible downtown. This isn’t just about safely getting from point A to B—it’s about building a city where everyone can thrive.”
LTD and the CoE plan to conduct community surveys throughout the pilot to gather feedback. The continuation of this pilot is dependent on the performance of the Downtown Loop and available funding.
